Use of modern technology may help farming community a lot in India. Farmers face lot of difficulty in calculation of inputs for application in their field for improving productivity of their crops. There are several constraints in working out the inputs due to local variations in the land units, lack of printed material in local language and communication gap. Sole purpose of this blog is to accumulate the farmers friendly information, technology and software at one place to make it available to NGOs and farming community.
Farming community often face problems to work out the quantity of fertilizer dose for their crops in the field. Experts always prescribe fertilizer doses in standard units like kg/ha or kg/acre. Farmers are unaware of the land units used by experts in their lectures. Not only farmers find standard units difficult to understand, local land units very greatly from one place to other. Majority of farmers find it difficult to follow expert instructions since information is provided in English language. Similar problems are faced by farmers in application of pesticides and fungicides etc. As an initiative to enlist and accumulate links to available software and utilities, we tried to search such software to make it available for free download to NGOs and farmers. We request our readers to provide information about utilities and software available in Indian dialects.

1. किसान खाद एवं उर्वरक संगणक : Its an Online bilingual application that may be quite useful for calculations related to fertilizer application. It calculate fertilizer dose for land units applicable to farming community and i.e. 'Decimil'. Decimil is considered a standard local unit. Other units like 'kattha', 'bigha' etc are not always uniform for all locations. Link may be bookmarked by the agencies requiring its use and may be opened using a mobile or tablet.

Quantity of herbicide may be easily calculated if herbicide dose and active ingredient in the formulation is known.
